Corporate Training : Importance and Implementation

Mohan works as full - time employee in a corporate organization. Mohan has done Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) in Information Technology (IT ) sector. It has been 2 years since Mohan has been employed in this Job and company. Mohan could not visit his native place during the vacations as he has to undergo corporate training. His mother is furious to learn about this and he tries to explain his mother the importance of corporate training for him and his job.

A large number of private and public organizations are implementing full- fledged corporate training for employees of different departments that suits their job profile.Training is a method of utilizing the human resource( for an organization its staff) to its full potential.

Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I may remember, Involve me and I learn

 Over few years, the human resource managers opt for the dedicated corporate training of employees to give them a better understanding of their work and are able to achieve professionals goals. Organizations invest in training programs for overall training and development of an employee.
Training offers the professional advantage to its working employees. Through training, the organization aims at retaining their talent pool which will benefit the organization in the long run.

Training integrates individual objectives with organizational objectives. Every organization seeks to achieve its objectives through employees. If employees keep organizational objectives at top priority then only the organization can flourish as well as the employee. Training promotes cooperation and not conflict between the employees. Training provides cooperation by enhancing skills like leadership, communication and also enhances soft skills.

As employees work and interact with each other during the long training sessions, The inter-personal trust, cooperation,  support is high among the employees. By investing in corporate training, the organization installs the above qualities in an employee which works for the organization growth. Conflict, lack of trust, individual interest of highest regard does not allow the organization to function smoothly. It causes failures for the organization.

Training programs ensures organizational competence allowing employees to apply skill, tools towards effective performance in response to a situation.  Corporate training instills values of learning, decision making, creativity, openness, proactive approach in an employee. These are professional values that an employee must have. Training and development of working force are critical to the success of an organization. Training programs are done by organizations for various reasons to seek a competitive edge, improve performance, for better outcomes at work etc. All these are done by honing the skills of their workforce.

Training is a huge responsibility for both organization and employees.The organization needs to have good trainers and well-executed training programs that provide usefulness to the employees whereas we need motivated employees, eager to learn and do not have resistance to change to undergo a training session. Everyone has their own opinion on the efficacy of the training. This makes training a challenging job.  Training of employees is not that easy. Trainer or a group of trainer needs to make sure that they conduct smooth, effective training workshops.

Training workshop is a type of interactive training where participants carry out training activities involved. 

Few tips to make your training streamlined:

Know your audience you are going to train, their demographics, capabilities, personalities and any other information as a trainer you want. Secondly, know your material that you will be using for training the employees.

Let your audience know you well. Make a friendly connection with them so they do not feel awkward in sharing or being trained by you.

Engage them in the training process. Have interactive session that is interesting and helpful. In this way, you will able to know about their weaknesses and strengths.  Employees will interact with each other.

If required, keep  an assistance that can guide the employees during  the training workshops so that the other employees are not disturbed and the workshop take place effectively

Provide pre- recorded workshop materials as a takeaway, CDS, reading materials etc, So the employees can go through what is being taught to them and revision can take place.

Feedback is important for improvement. Distribute feedback forms and ask for constructive feedbacks so that you can improve your training sessions further.

So training workshops benefit employees and organization in a number of ways. It always adds feathers to the caps of an employee. Training is the basis of employee and organization growth. Training is important. It is the asset that never depreciates.
