career counselling, Job search

If you’re struggling for a job (maybe a fresher or a job changer), there are days when you really get pissed off trying your luck and you just want to stop your search.

Job search? First, we need to understand, what is Job Search?

Job search is the act of looking for employment, due to unemployment, discontent with a current position, or a desire for a better position. It is a challenge for many people to find a job. You need career guidance in landing for the best job.

Don’t be in a hurry about finding your work in the world for yourself—you are not old enough to judge for yourself yet; but just look about you in the place you find yourself in, and try to make things a little better and honester there. —Thomas Hughes

Considering the number of steps you have to follow such as writing a resume, networking with professionals, and preparing for interviews, it can be difficult to stay motivated.

You Should Keep Few Things In Your Mind Before Abandoning Your Job Search.

You should always look for best opportunities, regardless of where you are in your career. Always look for the areas of improvement when your job search is taking you downward.

As it is rightly said, ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life’. Therefore, don’t let the job search go out of your control.  You can always have control over it by preferring your interest of work.

Finding a job can become draining. So, keep yourself motivated while searching for a job can be CHALLENGING.

You need to separate yourself from other job seekers. There’s no doubt that there is extremely competition in the market, so it’s important to take the right measures to stand out from other job seekers.

You need to create goals for your job search which greatly influence your success. If your job search is going a downward slope, you need to set new goals.

Don’t give up on job search because giving up on job search will reduce the opportunity of finding a better look-in. Go for online career counseling test to know what suits you. Keep your resume updated. It is not necessary to update it periodically, but continue to update it after major accomplishments.

Pleasure In The Job Puts Perfection In The Work.

When you enjoy what you are doing, you do a little better work than when you don’t. Perhaps you work longer, pay a little more attention to the details. It may not be exactly perfection in each case, but it is certainly better than average. This quote explains the difference between just doing the minimum, whether because you dislike it or doing your best because you really like doing it. It is about enjoying what you do, and doing what you enjoy.

How does it sound doing something unpleasant for 30-40 years?

This sounds extremely bad to me. Just imagine a life where you do not enjoy your work. How much better it could be if you work something which gives you pleasure and enjoyment in life, something which keeps you enthusiastic all day.

Another thought to provoke James Dean quote that shows us how it is important to be flexible in our daily endeavor. Throughout the day, we try and fight many circumstances, people, and events. We do everything to withstand the changes that confront us and yet we continue struggling. Change never stops, it continues to evolve and expand. And therefore, you should never stop your job search. Just go for the career counseling for working professionals to get the best thing. You never know, when is the scenario going to change for you.

The quickest path cannot always be right and correct to take, so it is better to have patience and search for a suitable job calmly.

Mistakes to Be Avoided By Job Seekers

⇒ Don't Rely On Online Postings Only

Some of the best chances for jobs from ads are in specialty trade publications and websites of specific industries.  I suggest you spend no more than five percent of your valuable time on public job postings.

⇒ Don’t Look Only For Openings

Searching only for companies with “openings” is an obsolete job hunting method. The best jobs are rarely listed “openings.” Rather, many good positions are created for the candidate, often at the interview. So shift your focus from “openings” to “opportunities’’.

{Remember: every company is hiring all the time if you have what they need when they need it}

⇒ Don’t Leave You Open For All Kinds Of Job

If you want your job search to be successful, then focus on finding the RIGHT job – not “just any job.”  When the job market is really tough, it’s exigent to be more focused than ever.

Don't put your resume only on Monster and CareerBuilder and hope that your email In Box will start to fill up or your phone will start ringing off the hook.  It won’t work. You need to be proactive when job searching and use all available job search resources - online and offline. Even career counseling quiz can help you out.

If you are interviewing with several employers, make sure you keep your story unswerving. Telling one interviewer one thing and another something else is a good way not to get the job.

No matter how good the job market is, job searching won’t ever be simple for you, and it won’t be easy to stay positive and focused.  It's important though to keep pegging away, to use all the job search tools available, and to keep a positive perspective.

Major Area Where You Need To Work On While Searching For A Job Is To Change Your Attitude Towards It. Don’t Stop Applying For Jobs.

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude

                                                                                                                               -Maya Angelou

⇒ Do not stop yourself from applying to jobs while you are waiting to hear back from an employer, this might make you miss an opportunity. Learn from the mistakes you have committed in your past while applying for a job, and keep applying until you get the right offer.  Worst case scenario, you will be fiddling multiple job offers. That’s a good thing.

⇒ After submitting a resume, a lot of job seekers are afraid to follow up or send a thank you note because it seems desperate. But for your information, I must tell you that thank you notes and follow-ups are often expected. It tells them that you are earnest about an opportunity with the company and want them to keep you in mind. Let the employer notice that you valued their consideration of you for the position. It might be the simple gesticulation that scores you the job.

Have Control Over Your Emotions While Job Hunting, DON’T GET FRUSTRATED.

Your motivation bummer after searching for the latest variation of the same job with a different name. After checking your inert inbox, you close your laptop in defeat. It’s easy to get glued in this draining cycle. My experience in the job search taught me that one of the biggest challenges is just maintaining the motivation to continue, especially when to face rejections. And you can reinvigorate your motivation by making simple changes to your job-search approach, focusing on what you want.

I come across some job seekers who get rejection after rejection and over time they become gradually more negative and frustrated. Constant disappointment and rejection can become the par, especially when the market is tough and openings are less.

So, in my opinion, job seekers are not supposed to get frustrated, rather look for the loop holes in their way of approaching to a job and rectify it as soon as possible.
