They can be part of the project teams and help the Green and Black Belt (higher in the hierarchy), thereby contributing significantly to the success of the project.

Course Outline of Yellow Belt certification in Six Sigma
The first section gives introduction. The initial 20 minutes give a general welcome and introduction. The next 20 minutes explain the definition of quality. It will be useful to get to know this as the Yellow Belt certification, is above all related to the quality management sector.
Next up is the history of quality. This also takes up 20 minutes. The next 30 concentrates on the VOC (voice of customers), VOB (Voice of Business), VOE (Voice of employees). These are important tools if one tries to understand the collective needs of the customers, employees and the business as a whole. This is followed by a 20-minute question and answer round.
2. Six Sigma
The next section is about Six Sigma. The first 20 minutes is used up dealing with the definition of Six Sigma. The next 30 minutes is used for the introduction to DMAIC, DMADV, DFSS, etc. DMAIC is Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control and DMADV is an acronym for Define, Measure, Analyze, Design and Verify and finally, DFSS means Design for Six Sigma.
After dealing with these concepts, they move on to CTQ (Critical to Quality), COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality). It is evident from the acronym that the costs of poor quality would not be present if the production processes were perfect. CTQ is related to the needs of the customer. This takes up 30 minutes.
The next 90 minutes are used to explain basic Six Sigma terms & Concepts – DPU (Defects per unit), DPMO (Defects per million opportunities), Cycle Time, First Time Right, etc. After that, the next 180 minutes is devoted to the seven basic quality tools. To facilitate a better understanding, the next 180 minutes is just practical – on using the various quality tools. The section ends with a 20 minutes Q&A round.
In this section, the first 30 minutes are used for explaining ‘lean’. In simple terms, lean is removal of the eight different kinds of waste. After an in-depth discussion on the definition, to clear up concepts and avoid misunderstandings, the next 30 minutes explains the difference between lean and Six Sigma.
This will clear up the doubts. It will also make the people, who are attending, capable of deciding on the debate on the implementation of lean or Six Sigma strategies. It can also be that combing both strategies will serve as the best solution. The next 180 minutes gives a better understanding of lean as it deals with the basics of Lean, 7 Types of Waste, 5 S, Poka Yoke, Terms & Terminology used in Lean.
4. Project and Real-time application
The last section consists of explaining the project structure and methodology. This would be of 60 minutes.
