It is one of the most crucial parts of Digital Marketing. When everyone googles we must make sure that our website is shown if not at the top, but on the first page.
To master SEO you need to first understand the building blocks of the website which are called Keywords. Search Engines like Google looks for keywords in your website or content.
Keywords are very important for every business website as they drive targeted web traffic to your business for free. Using the right keywords can make your business boom for free.
So, what are the keywords? Keywords are the words and phrases that users like us, type into Google, to find what websites that match what are looking for. Like, remember at the start of this article I asked you to Google Facebook. So, Facebook becomes the keyword here.
Role of an SEO Analyst?
The role of SEO Analyst is to increase the traffic to their website Organically. Organically means to improve your website by optimizing it also it is free so you need not pay anything if your website is efficient enough.
Using tools like Google Analytics you can check how many people are visiting your website daily, how much do they spend on which page. Such data helps you in optimizing your site better.
Example: If one of your website pages has a very low visit count and people who visit spend a few seconds on it so with this knowledge you can change the content of that page to improve it.
How to Optimize your Website?
1. Content Quality
Your content should be for the people and not search engines. If your content is really good then Google will rank you higher. You should not write keeping keywords in mind but make you also don’t wander off the topic. All content should be correct in terms of grammar, spelling, and readability.
2. Keywords and Phrases
Think of terms and phrases related to the theme of your website. You can also conduct Market Research to help in this process depending on your project. So, if you sell chairs then furniture can be a keyword but it will be too broad. Bar stools can be a keyword but it will be irrelevant. So, Key is to find the right keywords. For this, you can do three things.
Look for similar products online. Look for common phrases and descriptions used in all these sites.
Search on online forums related to your website topic. Look for the latest discussion happening over there. From there you can get good keywords.
Stick to keywords that accurately describe your website. Don’t be too broad or too shallow otherwise, your SEO will get digressed ultimately affecting your business.
3. Compare keywords with Google AdWords
I know what you are thinking. This keyword finding thing looks very time consuming, Can’t I just google keywords? Well, the answer is YES! Google gives this tool Google Keyword Planner. It will give you keywords for whatever content you want.
But choosing the right keyword is an art that comes with training. You can enroll in the Edu4ure course of Digital Marketing in Delhi. The stalwarts of Digital Marketing will show you with their years and years of experience, how to become a master of keyword planning.
4. Narrow down
Once you start getting feedback from google analytics. Start narrowing down to the keywords which are bringing the traffic and remove the ones which are irrelevant or bringing no traffic as such.
Keywords of your home page should have at least a thousand searches every month and a single keyword or some blog should have hundreds of searches. If you are unable to achieve such a result, then you need to again work on your keywords.
5. Check your result
Open an incognito tab (We want fair results, History of your google account will not give a clear picture) and Search for each phrase of your keyword separately in a search engine, to get an idea of the current competition.
You should avoid keywords that are having a high competition like 10 million searches as large well-established companies are also targeting these keywords and you will be probably moved down the result.
6. Always Remember
Stuffing as many keywords as possible into your site is no longer a good way to climb the rankings.
7. Strategies for SEO
Different search engines give weight to different metrics but let us try to understand the three basic strategies which everyone with the role of SEO Analyst should be aware of:
Website Ranking Factors: Ranking factors can be grouped into three categories
1. Popularity
Also, known as Reputation, it works on the principle that websites with good content will be more popular than sites with poor content. Google algorithm PageRank tests this with several backlinks (incoming links from other sources) to the site. This feature has taken Google far ahead of other search engines.
2. Relevancy
You can judge it by the Keywords and page titles used. The Click Through Rate (the proportion of visitors to a web page who follow a link from some other site) and Bounce Rate (the percentage of visitors to a particular website who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page.)
3. User Satisfaction
It looks for the average time spent by a user on the site. Speed of site, Hacking, Malware, and Viruses reduces the rank of the site because of User dissatisfaction.
4. Inbound marketing
It is an alternative to traditional marketing. Here, the customers are attracted to the site with content that is informative, useful or entertaining (Like this one!!! ). Usually, these campaigns are integrated with SEO, social media and content generation.
5. Black hat SEO tricks
you might have heard this quote “Everything can be tricked” and sadly so can the Search Engines. More often people engage in black hat tactics to trick the search engine into thinking a website has higher-quality content than it has.
Some of the black hat SEO techniques
1. Link Spamming
Generating backlinks for SEO and do not add value to the user. Example adding a link in the comment section of an unrelated post which we so often see on Facebook.
2. Keyword tricks
Filling up several high-value keywords in pages even though the content is not related to it. Example: you use keyword facebook in your site to target people who are looking for facebook.com
3. Ghost text
Adding text to gain ranks but the text is nowhere related to the actual content of your site. Then we hide the text, usually by making it the same color as the background.
4. Shadow pages, ghost pages or cloaked pages
Creating pages that are optimized to attract lots of people. These, however, contain a redirect command so that users are diverted to your site.
With this, we come to the end of our article but the role of SEO analyst is like a circle, it never ends. Each day new keywords must be incorporated while old archaic keywords have to be removed.
